METHODOLOGY

About

Weather.football is the authoritative source for weather history and forecasting across professional and college football. Our goal is simple: answer, precisely and honestly, the question every fan, bettor, and coach asks before kickoff — how much will the weather matter?

Powered by weather.city

Forecasts are built on the same NWS-grade infrastructure behind weather.city — the National Blend of Models (NBM) for game forecasts, tiered with NDFD beyond NBM's short-range reach, sampled at stadium coordinates. Weather.football is a standalone site; weather.city is its engine.

The Weather Football Index

Our signature product is the Weather Football Index — a transparent 0–100 score for every NFL and major college game, past and future. See exactly how it is computed.

Is it working right now?

Every forecast here is rebuilt hourly, and the status page shows what that pipeline is doing: when the last refresh succeeded, how old the forecast extracts are, which model cycles the current scores came from, and whether every scheduled game is covered or explicitly excluded.
